According to lawyer and human rights defender William Cristanco, the release of Oscar Camargo, alias “Pichi”, was This was due to his appointment as peace manager, a figure aimed at eliminating internal conflicts between gangs and criminal organizations through submission to Colombian justice.

For this reason, the senator from the Democratic Center assured that she had not seen a government in Colombia before that, in her words, was “dedicated to rewarding terrorists”, which in this sense questions the executive’s decision to transform Camargo into a peace manager. .

“In the history of Colombia, there has not been a government that has devoted all its efforts to rewarding terrorists. Such a drug dealer who should pay for his actions is proud today because Petro makes him a manager of “peace” expressed herself through her X account, a lawmaker belonging to the 1st Commission of the Senate of the Republic.

In a speech to President Gustav Petrov, he criticized the release of what he described as “one of the worst criminals in history”. He also said that these types of decisions affect the work of the Public Force.

“Mr President @petrogustavo, they are demanding results from mayors on security, but the government will release one of the worst criminals in the history of the city. It is outrageous that the Public Force is working so hard for nothing. “This is a mockery for Bucaramanga!”the president of the capital Santander said through the same social network.

Regarding the release, alias Pichi’s lawyer, William Cristancho, explained that as a peace manager, Camargo cannot return to the territory where he carried out his criminal activity, in the department of Santander.

“The benefit was granted because they are trying to dissolve the internal conflict between these gangs and criminal organizations and submit to Colombian justice. He must communicate with his gangs to stop committing crimes and submit to justice, it is to bring peace to the territory, his duty is to answer for his people,” the lawyer commented in various media.

Critical voices question the release of Oscar Camargo aka “Pichi”, given the rise in the number of murders in Bucaramanga. Mayor Jaime Andrés Beltrán attributed the increase to clashes between gangs that focus on micro-trafficking. According to the president, the groups ‘Los del Sur’ and ‘Los de San Rafa’ – the faction led by Pichi – are the most strengthened in the capital of Santander.

Oscar Camargo, alias ‘Pichi’, is accused of attempting to kill General Manuel Vázquez, the former chief of the Metropolitan Police of Bucaramanga. In addition, he is accused of numerous murders connected to micro-trafficking disputes between criminal gangs in this city. His criminal record dates back two decades, when he dabbled as a drug dealer and then founded the “Los San Rafa” crime group.

In 2015, members of the Metropolitan Police of Bucaramanga achieved the initial capture of Oscar Camargo aka “Pichi”. However, after 56 days in prison, he managed to escape by jumping from the second floor during a medical appointment at a health center.
